WHAT IS A SCHOOL BUS DRIVER?

  • A bus driver is an individual who smiles in the morning, smiles in the afternoon and gets lots of smiles in return.
  • A bus driver gets there when nobody else can; finds houses which do not exist and children with no names.
  • She dries tears, dispels fears, and finds lost notebooks.
  • A bus driver has eyes in the back of her head and hears every word that is said, even in sign language.
  • He separates the meek from the mighty, the timid from the bold, and gives reassuring nods to anxious moms standing at the end of their lanes.
  • He is immune to noise.
  • A bus driver’s favorite words are “Good morning” and “Good evening,”
  • Her favorite color is yellow.
  • A bus driver knows all the school songs and pep cheers. His vocabulary is always up-to-date.
  • He can read a map.
  • Sometimes a bus driver gets tired but seldom mad and always, most faithfully, she gets there. Many people set their clocks by a bus driver’s schedule; many mothers set out for a second cup of coffee.
  • A bus driver sits at the helm and safely operates a six to twelve ton, $100,000 machine loaded with 9 to 97 units of the most precious cargo on earth.

The San Ramon Valley Unified School District is looking for individuals interested in becoming Special Education School Bus Drivers!  Paid training provided!

The San Ramon Valley Unified School District operates small passenger school buses, typically with 5-10 students per bus. Paid training is provided.  Once a trainee becomes a regular bus driver they are eligible for Health and Welfare Benefits, Paid Holidays, Paid Vacation and Professional Growth.  Drivers typically work approximately 6 hours a day on average.
