In accordance with California law, all applicants (certificated and classified) must have their fingerprints cleared prior to the start of work. Applicants will incur all charges for fingerprinting and fingerprints may not be transferred from one employer to another.
Individuals who have been convicted of serious and/or violent crimes are precluded from being hired by California public school districts.
Employees may not be placed at a work site prior to the District receiving clearance from the Department of Justice. Classified employees are also required to receive clearance from the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Fingerprinting can only occur once an applicant has been offered employment.

Certificated Employees – DOJ Clearance + Rolling Fee = $ 62.50
Classified Employees – DOJ + FBI + Rolling Fee = $ 81.00
Independent Contractors/Consultants/Volunteers – DOJ + FBI + Rolling Fee = $ 75.00

Once you have received your Live Scan form, you may make an appointment at one of the following locations. Applicants must present valid photo identification (e.g. Driver’s License) to the Live Scan Operator. Expired identification cards will not be accepted.

On the day of your appointment, the Fingerprint Technician will submit your Fingerprints electronically to the Department of Justice/FBI. It may take two (2) weeks or more to receive the clearances. If you have not lived in California or were born prior to 1945, the clearances may take longer. We do not control the length of time required to receive results nor can we inquire from the DOJ and/or FBI regarding the progress of the reports.
Please do not inquire about clearances for at least seven days. You will be contacted by the District when your clearances are received.
PAYMENTS FOR FINGERPRINT SERVICES
Credit Card Payments – We accept VISA and Mastercard on our secure registration site. All returned credit card payments will be charged a $25.00 service fee, and all subsequent payments must be cash or Money Order.
Checks/Money Order – Checks/Money Orders payable to the San Ramon Valley Unified School District for the applicable amount will be accepted. Please choose the Pay in Person/Mail in Check/Money Orders option on the online registration system for this.
Refunds – Refunds will NOT be issued even if your clearance is not accepted for employment by the District.
